Summer Fun With My Girl

I've got sunshine
On a cloudy day. . .

When it's cold outside
I've got the month of May. . .

I guess you'd say
What can make me feel this way?

MY GIRL!

Waiting for Brooklyn

I am beyond excited today.  We had our family/maternity pictures taken last weekend by a wonderful photographer.  We got to see all of the pictures today and I couldn't be more pleased with how they turned out.  The hard part now is deciding where to hang them!  This is such a precious time in our lives . . . we have a beautiful daughter and are anxiously awaiting the arrival of our 2nd little princess.

Our New Home

We are so blessed to have this beautiful new home to raise Madison in.  It is amazing how this home literally fell in our lap.  We definitely learned a lesson in God's perfect timing. If you have a few moments, I would love for you to read our house hunting story:

In October of 2012, we found out that we were approved by the bank to purchase a new home.  We were absolutely thrilled, because not only were we preparing to bring our daughter into the world, but we knew that we could not continue the 90 mile daily work commute with an infant.  So, this started the process of house hunting.  Unfortunately, it was easier said than done.  We looked high . . . we looked low.  In the course of 6 months, we made a total of 12 different offers on 12 different homes . . . all of which fell through.

Our house hunt was to the point where every evening was spent house hunting online, and every weekend was spent driving the 90 mile commute all over again to house hunt in person.  It was taking over our lives, and we knew we had to make a change. We suddenly realized that we were a month away from having a baby, and we had put so much time and energy into finding a house that we had neglected to prepare for our child.  At that point, we didn't have a nursery set up, a diaper, a bottle, etc.

So, we ended the house hunt.  Simple as that.  We stopped looking all together.  We decided instead to put our faith in God, and that He would provide the perfect house.

On April 9th, we welcomed our beautiful daughter into the world!  We couldn't have been happier.  We brought her home to our townhouse, and started loving on her immediately.  While we were thankful to have a roof over our heads, and a place to bring our baby home to, the thought of a new house was still in the back of our minds.  What we didn't know was that we were about to get a text message that would change everything . . .

Madison was 2 weeks old when my friend and co-worker sent me a text message that said, "CALL ME NOW!"  I immediately called, and she told me that her neighbors were ready to move and that I should come over to see their house.  Jason and I contacted the owners and made an appointment to see the house that Friday.  As soon as we walked in, we fell in love.  It had everything we were looking for, plus so much more . . . a full finished basement, a fenced in backyard, an open floor plan, beautiful large windows, tons of natural light, the list could go on  and on.

After our first look, everything fell into place.  The owners even sent me an email telling us how much they wanted US to have this house, and that they were not going to officially put it on the market until we made a decision.  Well, our decision was YES, YES, and YES!

After 6 months of looking for a house to no avail, only 6 WEEKS passed before our first tour of this house and the day we moved in.  We are so happy here, and the best part is that the commute that once took 90 miles is now 3 miles!

So, here she is!  Our beautiful new place called HOME!
